I am a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher, a Registered Aromatherapist and a Healing Touch practitioner level 3. I have been active in the healing arts since 1996 when I discovered my passion for Aromatherapy. Since that time my gifts and passion for energy work have been unfolding and blossoming as teachers continue to cross my life's path.
I have always had an affinity for nature and the subtle energies that surround us daily. However, it wasn’t until a trip to a retreat in the Bahamas to overcome a debilitating fear of drowning (from when I was 8 years old) that I learned, energetically, how to ‘hear’ with my heart and how that could translate eventually to my hands. There, in the clear, azure blue waters surrounded by the healing energy of the dolphins and the magic of the island of Bimini I felt something deep inside of me shift. From panic attacks on my first day in the water to diving freely in the open Atlantic on my final day with the dolphins, I knew I had experienced a profound shift. After arriving home, I made the decision to commit myself to learning energy work, knowing my new friends, the dolphins, are always with me in spirit.
I have a degree in Leisure and Recreation Services Management, graduating on the Dean's List with honours and studied for and received my Real Estate License through the University of British Columbia. I am also on a journey to discover Buddhism, attending meditation sessions at the Sherab Chamma Ling Tibetan Bon Buddhist Centre with Geshe YongDong, the centre's resident Lama.
Because we love animals, my family and I volunteered as foster parents with the SPCA for over 7 years. I am also a volunteer at St Joseph's Hospital, offering Healing Touch to chemotherapy patients and also with the Hospice Program.
I am a member of Healing Touch Canada and also a member of the BC Association of Practicing Aromatherapists and am working towards my certification with the Canadian Reiki board. I am passionate about natural healing therapies. I have recently opened my studio, The Oasis, located in Courtenay, BC. For my animal clients, however, I usually do home visits, as most of them tend to do better in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. It is always my intention to make each session the best it can be for my animal and human clients!
At present, I share my home with my daughter, husband, three rescue cats (Angel, Max and Luna), three geckoes (Forrest, Mikey and Osiris) and one red-bellied Senegal parrot named JoJo B. Peepington III. I say ‘at present’ because as our foster babies come and go with regularity, sometimes we just cannot let one go and they become a part of our family. Truly, life is never dull!
