Aromatherapy is the practice of using naturally occurring volatile plant essences, including essential oils for psychological and physical well-being. It is NOT about perfumed fragrances so popular in today's society.
True Aromatherapy does not use synthetic products, therefore most people who have sensitivities to perfumes and synthetic products will not have a reaction to the essential oils. The exception to this would be if you had an allergy to the plant (i.e. Ragweed sufferers tend not to do well with Chamomile). When using essential oils for a physical condition it is best to work with a fully qualified professionally trained Aromatherapist.
Essential oils, the pure essence of a plant, have been found to provide both psychological and physical benefits when used correctly and safely.
Essential oils that are inhaled into the lungs offer both psychological and physical benefits. Not only does the aroma of the natural essential oil stimulate the brain to trigger a chemical response within the body, but when inhaled into the lungs, the natural constituents (naturally occurring chemicals) can supply
therapeutic benefit.
